Reason 6 Can Now Record — At Last!

August 1st, 2011 • Reason 6No Comments »

If you look at most of the past reviews about Reason, it usually goes something like this: Reason is really terrific with all the original and powerful features, now if only it had the audio recording incorporated into the software then it would be one of the best and most competitive music studio softwares out there. It was a long time coming, but Reason 6 finally puts it all together. No more having to deal with Record as a separate program. Reason 6 puts together all the functionality of Reason and Record, along with some aesthetic improvements. Now that they’ve done it, it seems Propellerhead will has abandoned Record and replaced it with Reason Essentials, a slimmed-down version of its bigger brother, Reason 6.

Record added a lot of great things to Reason, the ability to place your racks side by side, extra effects modules, a terrific analog-style console, and a lot more. But I think every Reason user would confess that I wanted all these features not in another program, but inside Reason itself. Even when Propellherhead offered that “Duo” package that included both Record and Reason, what you really wanted was both in one complete software. I guess this issue was even more noticeable since as we know, neither Reason nor Record offer plug-in support (for the sake of stability and smooth performance), and it’s like, come on Propellerhead guys, why are you making us go through all these unnecessary hassles just to record sound? Well, I’m glad to say that with the advent of Reason 6, Propellerhead has finally heard the complaints of their loyal fans. Still no VST Plug-in support (I think they can be stubborn on this one forever), but at least no more inconvenience of needing to buy two softwares.

Welcome to Reason 6!
